A Few Vintage Sheets Items

I've been a tad busy despite the fact that I've been absent. I've planned a few swaps on swap-bot and have had a few orders in the shop. I created a vintage sheet tote swap a little while ago and made a couple of bags for that.

I met another Lani. She is from Strawberry MilkMade. I love her blog. I met her from the vintage sheet tote swap, and she ordered a couple of items from me. I made her a custom owl camera bag.

I want one now. I'm surprised at how well I came out.

I also volunteered to replace a swap that someone never sent to a girl in one of my swap groups on swap-bot. I think the swap was a rainbow owl softie theme. I'm not really sure. But she said she lacked purple, so that's what I made her.

I actually digitized this little guy months ago and really didn't have anything to user it for. I stitched out on my embroidery machine. It is quite cute.

I also signed up for a handmade stocking swap that had to be filled with craft supplies.

I haven't decided what to fill out with yet but at least the stocking is done.

Lastly, I found a wooden owl bookend at the thrift store this weekend.

It's pretty solid with a flocked base. It's missing an ear, though, but for 50 cents can I really complain about that.....

Two totes, One night

I've been in a sewing slump here lately, which is a HUGE problem because I've signed up for a ton of sewing swaps on swap-bot. Although I have been creating things, there are not a lot of things I have been sewing. I feel kind of bad. Well last night, I tucked away my enervated feeling and got to work. I completed 3 swaps last night; one I had items already prepared for and the other two I sewed for. I made 2 totes, actually one tote and one market bag. I know there is no real difference, lol.

The first bag I made is for a Tote Bag swap.

I used my favorite medium, vintage sheets. I used two coordinating sheets in hues of blue and purple. I created a ruffled flower for the front with a button center.
The flower fabric matches the lining.

I used some vintage fabric piping that I picked up at the antique mall this weekend.

I think the piping adds a wonderful contrast to the lighter outside fabric.

The second bag I made is for Round 13 Craft a Surprise swap. I participated in the last round of this swap, and it was quite fun. So I decided to try it again.
I had so much fun making up this package for the simple fact that my partner and I share so many likes. When I saw that she liked vintage sheets and reusable bags, I jumped right into an idea. I've been toying around with making simple, fuss-free and quick-to-make reusable totes; and last night I got the opportunity to send one.

It was so quick and easy. The binding was the most tedious thing on this project (mostly because I was on Facebook. I know, sad, right!) So she is receiving the tote, some snips of vintage sheets, vintage pearl buttons, and bird stamps.

I'm so excited! I really hope they all enjoy their gifts. I'm off to the post office!! Bye! and Have a wonderful day!!!

WIPs and swap items

I've been trying to stay busy at home on my machine after work. It's quite odd that I even want to see the sight of a sewing machine after having to embroider numbers on over 1500 shirts. Its a wonder I'm not a babbling idiot foaming out the mouth from dealing with that headache.

But I can't stop my creative juices nor do I have the inclination to do so. Like I've said before, I've been on this vinyl kick and I'm loving it! I went and purchased new colors (as if I even needed it!) I'm glad that it's orderable from the small fabric shop we have in town, and they carry great colors. I think they even carry glitter vinyl. Anywho.. I had some teal laying around and made this:

I added a magnetic snap as a closure. Its really spacy, a little too big. But I think I could work.

I have so many ideas for vinyl clutches rushing my brain that it's insane.

I also participated in some swaps over at swap-bot.com I forget the names but they are sewing related. (Naturally!) The first one was a group swap for sewing supplies. Since my partner and I are so much alike, I sent a bunch of vintage fabric, vintage buttons, and zippers. My partner also knits. So I made her a little bag to stick some of her knitting needles or yarn inside of it and her fave needles or the ones she's working with in the pockets on the outside.

I hope she'll like it.

The next swap was a "Sew What" swap, where we had to create something extra special for our partner. Since my partner had just had her first baby girl amidst boys, I made a reversible, folded travelling changing pad (What a mouthful!!) and a travel diaper/wipes cozy. I loved making these. Wish I had've made a set for my own child. The only thing I wish I. Had added was some machine embroidery.

The changing pad also fits perfectly into the little cozy.

Thanks for stopping by!!
