"Vintage Sheet" Manicure

I know I have been M.I.A. for quite some time now. I apologize greatly for that. I've been busy and life has just gotten in the way.

Anyway I polished up my fingers yesterday following DIY Nails floral manicure tutorial. I only decorated my ring finger with the design unlike hers. I also would have liked to add polka dots to the design but I don't have a dotting tool yet.

When I first saw the nail art, I immediately thought "vintage sheets" and just knew I had to try it out. I added silver glitter to the centers of my flowers just to give it a little something extra. I will definitely be doing this manicure more often.

Chevron Stripes Manicure

Last night I decided to paint my nails after letting them roam free for about 2 weeks.

I went to my favorite nude polish: Wet n' Wild Megalast in Private Viewing. I added the stripes with L.A. Colors Art Deco nail art polish in Black Sparkle. I love that the Black Sparkle actually has tiny flicks of ultra-fine gold in it.

For this manicure I simply polished my nails with the "Private Viewing" polish. Then decided which fingers I wanted as accent nails and painted graduating V's on the fingers. On one nail I did a regular V and the other finger I painted an inverted V. I then added a fast drying topcoat. It's a wonderful contrast and fairly simple to try out.

Holiday Nails

I decided to go with something a little simple this Holiday season for my manicure. I am absolutely in love with all things nude: from polish to lipstick to clothing and shoes. So I figured why not do a simple yet bold nude nail for Christmas and New Year's?

I used Wet 'n Wild's "Private Viewing." A friend of mine turned me on to this particular color when I was searching for a plain flesh-toned nude. I also used Sally Girl's gold glitter polish. I just brushed the glitter polish on in an asymmetrical pattern across my tips. I love the affect and how the light catches the glitter. Almost reminds me of gold leafing.

What I like about "Private Viewing" is, of course, the particular hue; the drying time isn't bad, and the shortness of the brush.
What I don't like about it is the material of the brush bristles (it's something manmade so it's thick and stiff) and the unevenness of the bristles causing the polish to be streaky when applied.

But all and all I made it work. So now I'm off to find nude pumps and more black eyeshadow....

Have a wonderful Christmas Eve and be careful!!!
Love you guys!!

I made something from my pinboard!

via pinterest

I love it! The inspiration is much much better than mine, but I'm cool with that. My fingers are still drying as I'm typing.

Things I would do differently:
-Use fine glitter instead of the big clumpy sort.
-Use more closely matched glitter and polish.
-Put cuticle oil around my accent finger.
-Not type while nails are drying! LOL

What have you created from your pinboards recently?

{Tutorial} : Half Moon Manicure (with glitter!)

I'm not one for usually polishing my tips. I usually go to a salon and get a manicure every other month, but looking at all the fun fall polishes in the stores have made me a tad ambitious and adventurous. I'm totally in love with the nudes and tawnies. I created this nail art earlier this week and decided I should share.

Materials:
- base coat/nail hardener
- base color
- accent color (Here I used a nail art polish with the super skinny brush in silver glitter. I suggest using something similar.)
- top coat

First remove any dirt, oil, etc, from your nail bed by washing your hands and rubbing nail with polish remover or alcohol. Apply base coat or nail hardener, whatever is your preference.

After base coat dries, apply 2 coats of your base color making sure each coat is dry before you layer the next one.

Take your accent color and draw a half moon shape across the width of your nail bed. This is why I suggest nail art brushes. They seem to be more flexible and less messy with drawing fluid, organic shapes.

Fill in the line you drew and let dry. When I polish my nails, I usually use the aid of a liquid nail dryer (because I'm very clumsy AND impatient!)

Apply your top coat and marvel at the prettiness you created!

I think this is a super fall manicure that looks wonderful for everyone. It brings just enough touch of uniqueness that will add a little pop to solid polishes.
